Contaminated land, as defined by Part 2 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, may pose a significant risk to human health and or the environment.

The UK Sustainable Development Strategy promotes the remediation and development of contaminated land sites.

Only through the implementation of an appropriately designed remediation scheme and the application of legislative control, will you achieve cost effective environmental improvement, and not adversely affect human health or the environment, through the remedial activity itself.

Past industrial legacies should no longer be considered a barrier in the repurposing of contaminated land to meet sustainable, economic objectives.
